AKA Holtermonster

I got to hang out with the infamous HolterMonster and got schooled in illustration.

I was working late on some stuff in the studio and the HolterMonster (Lauren Rae Holtermann) came by to pick up one of her groovie t-shirts that she designed for Live From Memphis. She had some work to do as well so she stayed and we hung out in the studio.

She was working on a vector portrait. I've seen ads on the internet offering the opportunity to have your face vectorized, but those usually look stupid because it's just a software thing. I didn't realize that I knew anyone that actually created them by hand. Since she was just getting started, I made her do a screen recording because I thought it would be cool to do a time-lapse video of the entire process.

It took her about two hours to complete the illustration. It might have been a little faster had I left her alone. I then condensed the two hours to less than two minutes and voila! This lucky customer got an added bonus video of her portrait being made!

As it turns out Lauren does a variety of these portraits and she sells them to peeps all across the country through a web service called Etsy.com.

If you hurry I'm sure she could create a portrait of that special someone on your Christmas list!
