Flipside Memphis - Orpheum Theatre

There are over twenty Orpheum Theaters in the US - you can find one in Boston, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Madison, WI, there are even a couple others sprinkled around the globe.
The word itself refers to the Greek myth of Orpheus, whose music and poetry were so compelling that event the gods were mesmerized. But the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, well, it has stories all its own.
The first time Brad went to the Orpheum was to see Stomp, and the Blue Man Group opened for them. "It was amazing! It started with just this one guy with a broom, and he just went crazy on this broom and then the whole place exploded."
Christopher's first experience going to the Orpheum was shortly after he moved here from California and he went to see South Pacific. "It took me back to my childhood and spending summers in Hawaii with my grandmother."
The earliest memory I have of the Orpheum is going to see Gone With the Wind with my father. I was in 4th or 5th grade, and was just blown away. Since then, I've been back several times - to see ballets, concerts, and movies. One of my best memories is going to the Grammy Awards in 2002 - I some how ended up drinking goldschlager in the back of a stretch limo!
Going to the Orpheum is different for everyone, and that's one of the coolest things about it - go have your own experience and create your own memories!
