Arts Memphis TV presents Greely Myatt

Greely Myatt was born and educated in Mississippi. He currently lives and works in Memphis, Tennessee, where he is Professor of Art at The University of Memphis. His sculptures and installations have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States, Europe and Japan.

"To state my approach to the making of art in the simplest and most direct manner, I have tried to use these -- the hand, the eye, the heart and the mind -- to guide my work in both the making and the viewing." - Greely Myatt

Currently Greely is completing a public sculpture for the City of Memphis through the UrbanArt Commission.  The "Quilt" pieces will be located at the corner of Front St. and Adams Ave. which begins installation at the end of May.

Greely is also working on a Twenty Year Survey of his work to be exhibited at eight locations throughout the city.  Beginning in August and continuing through November, you can see this exhibition at the following:
Brooks Museum, Aug. 15
Dixon Gallery, Aug. 15
Powerhouse Memphis, Aug. 28
David Lusk, Sept. 4
University of Memphis and Rhodes College, Sept. 11
P&H Cafe, Sept 18
MCA Gallery, Sept. 25

If you just can't wait to see some of Greely's work, please check out "The Baker's Dozen: an Unorthodox Benefit for UrbanArt," a one-night auction featuring a collection of works by 13 premiere regional and national artists.  The event is Friday, May 15th from 6-8pm and will take place on historic Broad Avenue in the galleries of UrbanArt, Material and Odessa.  For more info please click HERE.
