Henning Molfenter, Managing Director and Producer at Babelsberg Motion Pictures in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany discusses the studio's 99-year history, his early career in the United States, international co-productions in Berlin and his own personal Memphis connection. He joined Babelsberg Studios in 2000. Like many businesses in East Germany after the fall of the Berlin wall, the studio had been struggling to survive, and Molfenter took a lead role in returning the studio to international critical acclaim. The Berlin-Memphis Film Connection webisodes are a co-production of The Memphis Film Commission, Director Eric Brice Swartz and Producer Sarah Christine Bolton. The webisodes are now partnered with the Film Memphis TV series, produced by Sarah Fleming and Live From Memphis. The Berlin-Memphis episodes were filmed in Berlin Nov. 2009 while Swartz and Bolton were gathering footage for the documentary tentatively titled “Mauerkinder: Children of the Wall.”
