About Us
The Li’l Film Fest was founded in 2006 by
Sarah
Fleming and Christopher
Reyes. The original idea for the festival was inspired by
the demolition of Baptist Memorial Hospital.
One day, back in 2005, the powers-that-be scheduled the implosion
of BMH. Sarah and Christopher, being the video enthusiasts that
they are, decided to attend the event and capture the fall of
the building. A few hours and several soy lattes later, Sarah
and Christopher, wondering what would become of the footage, decided
to shoot a short film,
“Oh, Fu__!”
Sarah and Christopher shot and edited their li’l film in
only a couple of days, and had so much fun in the process that
they decided to release the implosion footage to other local filmmakers
so that they too could go out and make li’l films…
and so began the Li’l Film Fest.
Only after staging the first few events did we discover the real need and importance for the festival. Our mission is to cultivate local talent and young filmmakers for the future.
