Flipside Memphis - Electrocity

To describe Electrocity...well, you just have to be there.
Yes… it's a "personal experience" blog…. I don't know what else to type….
I first met Christopher in like 2003. We were both shooting a concert at the New Daisy - I'd been hired by one of the bands, while he, of course, was archiving for Live From Memphis. After that I saw him a few times, eventually he called me to help cover a shoot. I'd never been to the LFM studio before, and was obviously impressed (obvious to anyone who's ever been here) - it's huge, open, and filled with plants and kitties… but that was it - impressed.
About a year or so later, after I'd joined the LFM team, Christopher wanted to throw a party. I arrived at the party - to a loft and studio space that I'd been to, at this point, probably a few hundred times, and was like, "Holy, shit! I've been here before!"
And I don't mean like I had been there yesterday, it was like the creepy version of "I've been here before." It took me a few minutes to work it around in my brain, but I finally realized it was the party - I had been to parties here before. Back in the early- to mid- 90s the Ninjacat Studio (as LFM was referred to back in the day), along with several other venues - from abandoned warehouses, to skating rinks, to indoor soccer fields - threw parties, hosting loud dance music, cool DJs, and people who wanted to have a good time.
Fifteen (or so) years later, Electrocity has stepped up to the plate - and the parties are still going - stronger, and possibly more popular, than ever. Boasting a mix of different musical genres, a diverse crowd, and DJs known world-wide, Electrocity has capitalized on that underground rave craze of decades past and opened it up for a whole new generation. On Electrocity nights, Nocturnal has kids lined up around the block waiting to get in - either dressed up or dressed out, you know they're ready for a good time.
Looking for a good time?
