The Mobile Music Machine (or as we like to say The Magnificent Memphis Mobile Music Machine) is a Live From Memphis project advocating the importance of a healthy bike culture and the impact that music and art have on our daily lives. Sure, we could have bought a vehicle capable of moving a musician, amps and instruments, but we felt that it was important to create and produce the Mobile Music Machine as a local collaboration, with our own hands, with recycled bike parts and powered with the human body.
A Bike and Film Festival! After a couple of years importing the New York-based Bicycle Film Festival, Cort Percer approached us hoping for a way to create a more localize the event.
We were interested in developing two main components for the project: One, bring stellar bicycle-themed films from around the world to a Memphis audience; and, two, to be able to incorporate films made by Memphians into the event as well… and Bikesploitation was born.

Live From Memphis has been filming and recording music since 2000 - it's how it all started really. A lot of the stuff that we film ends up in an archive, but some of it finds its way here - to Memphis Music TV. You can also find other Memphis music-based programming here, such as Hotel Memphis, Gonerfest, Maggie Exner's Practice Space, and some pretty cool music videos.
A series of 5 commercials celebrating art and art diversity in Memphis. This project was commissioned by ArtsMemphis who knew that, with our extensive video archive of artistic events in Memphis, Live From Memphis would be the ideal team to develop this campaign.
It's all about YOU!… well, at least for 60 seconds. The show consist of minute long episodes that highlight creative individuals in the Memphis area "doing their thing." Musicians, poets, artists, comedians, dancers, rappers, and people with unique talents are welcome to come be a part of the show.
In 2008 Live From Memphis teamed up with ArtsMemphis (a non-profit organization dedicated to building a "vibrant community for everyone") to produce a series of videos, each focusing on an individual artists. Over the course of 2 years we created over 50 videos.
A social experiment in the name of art, community, and a "let's see what the hell happens" attitude.
In March of 2011 Live From Memphis sent a dozen disposable cameras out into the community. The mission, take two pictures and pass the camera on! At the end of the month, we collected as many cameras as we could and held a community art show at the Adam Shaw Gallery on Broad Avenue.
A public art event featuring three short experimental films projected onto the side of the Wellworks building in Downtown Memphis. The three films, "River Rising," "…and things of that nature," and "iSarah" vary in focus and content, but each provided stunning visuals and thought-provoking narratives.
A community engagement initiative showcasing local talent. Every Summer Live From Memphis organizes between eight and ten events to occur weekly in Downtown's Court Square Park. In 2010 our series showcased emerging musical talent and in 2011 the focus was on visual arts.
Get Down! is downtown Memphis like you've never seen it before - no fluff, just fun on the bluff! A 10-episode series created by Live From Memphis in partnership with the Center City Commission.
Hosted by the fun-loving, self-proclaimed "Jumpsuit Gentleman" (that's JG for short), each episode showcases the unique people and place in downtown.
This is where it all started, recording live music In the early 2000's. Christopher set out with his mini-disk recorder to get Memphis Music on the internet, ahh, the good ol' days.
First launched in 2006 our goal was simply to inspire local filmmakers to create and to provide a venue from which to do so. We saw that idea grow into a family where everyone helped each other hone their craft, experiment with new technologies and techniques, and create wonderful projects.
Since 2004 Live From Memphis has been partnering with various companies and organizations to help them realize their film productions. We've provided everything from filming to editing to creating collateral materials and websites for the films.
A series of videos, photos, and written articles focusing on Memphis residents who use bicycling as an alternative means of transportation. Whether its riding to the grocery to pick up a loaf of bread, commuting to work, or simply enjoying a family ride to the park, the bike is fast-growing means of transportation.
A collection of programs and videos captured since 2003, LFM TV is a half-hour program broadcasted on WYPL tv18 in Memphis. Featured programming includes LFM production such as ArtsMemphisTV, Flipside Memphis, FilmMemphisTV, and various short films and music videos all made right here in Memphis.
Life at Rhodes College is much more than academics. Rhodes TV focuses on the lives of students - their service work, their hangouts, their friends, their athletics, and their adventures in Memphis (along with academics, of course). Rhodes College plays a big role in the Memphis community and in turn the city of Memphis offers a wide variety of opportunities to students in every aspect of life.
Live From Memphis goes behind the scenes of Memphis film productions. Independent cinema is alive and well in the Memphis area and we founded this project to showcase the faces behind the camera - from special effects make-up to locations, set decoration, and sound mixing; from home-grown directors to California-based crews, FilmMemphisTV shows what it takes to "git 'er done" in this town.
Flipside is a series of documentary shorts produced in association with MTV New Media and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau that highlights the city’s vibrant creative communities.
In Flipside, you’ll learn the definition of “jookin” and meet a man who lives in a cluster of vintage Airstream trailers. "Combining these amazing people, places, and stories into a single experience like Flipside generates massive appreciation for how unique Memphis really is,” says filmmaker Brad Phelan. “It's very inspirational for me to see all these great things going on in my own city. Flipside has brought my love for Memphis to a whole new level."
The Music Video Showcase is an annual celebration of music on film. This event was originally founded in 2005 as an accompaniment to the Indie Memphis Film Festival. Since its inception the showcase has grown from a one night screening to a 3-day festival in its own right. Events within the Showcase include industry panels (e.g. Topspin, Martin Atkins' Tour Smart), parties featuring local and out-of-town acts, and of course multiple screenings of music videos.
