 Li'l Film Fest

Li'l Film Fest

A theme-based, mini-festival if you will. Now in it's 3rd year (2009), LFM's Li'l Film Fest is a quarterly event that showcases the unique talent of local filmmakers. We provide the theme and then filmmakers have roughly 6 weeks to produce a finished piece no longer than 5 minutes in length. Past themes have included the implosion of Baptist Memorial Hospital, Barbecue, Craig Brewer, Freedom of Speech, and many more.

Music Video Showcase

First launched in 2005, the goal of LFM's Music Video Showcase is to give both local filmmakers and musicians a chance to "rock the big screen!" The event occurs annually as part of the Indie Memphis Film Festival, which attracts over 5,000 audience members. Everyone's got something to share, and what better way to share than on-line videos?!!!

The Memphis Creative Directory

The Creative Directory is Memphis's only comprehensive artist and organization directory for Music, Film & the Arts. The directory is professional listing for local creatives. You might think of it as an IMDB or All Music Guide for the Memphis area. We do our best to keep credits and listings up to date. The goal of the directory is, first to get local creatives jobs and secondly to maintain a historical archive. The directory is maintained by our community of contributors and co-creators.

The Memphis Music Database

The Memphis Music Database is just getting started so don't expect to see everything because there is hardly anything. Rest assured that when you blink, it will suddenly be there over night!

The MMDB is a Memphis music "release based" archive. Meaning, if a record came out in 1968 on some obscure Japanese label that featured a Memphis artist who recorded in Africa, we intend on listing it in the MMDB. The MMDB allows you to cross-reference artists, search formats and genres. The best thing about the MMDB is that it not only lists the album and artist but it also lists who mixed the album, who recorded the album, who wrote the lyrics, down to who did the graphic design and photography. This is our attempt to give credit where credit is due and to create an immense Memphis Music Resource.

If you would like to volunteer or donate resources such cash or old albums, CDs or other formats of music, please contact us

Recording live audio shows is how it all started here at LFM. Christopher and his mini-disk recorder, ahh, the good ol' days. Well, things are a bit different now with protools and High Definition video.

Chances are you've seen us doing our thing over the years. We've been recording live shows, performing multi-camera shoots and photographing events since 2001. Made up of LFM staff, volunteers and interns, no one has archived more shows or events than LFM.

Education has always been at the forefront of the LFM mission. In 2002 we began a Lecture Series to inform musicians of ways to promote themselves through the internet. We've visited the Visible School, the University of Memphis, the Apple Store, MAC, and countless others. Additionally, we host interns year-round who are interested in learning more about the world of music, film, art, and its supporting industries.
